Joyous MerdekaRaya

There is no other word than joy to describe the event in Kalamazoo we had on September 14, 2013. Education Malaysia Chicago (EMC), together with three other Malaysian Students Organizations from Western Michigan University, Michigan State University and University of Michigan worked together and pull out an amazing event called MerdekaRaya.
Hari Merdeka (Independence Day) is a national day of Malaysia commemorating the independence of the Federation of Malaya from British colonial rule in 1957, celebrated on August 31 each year. At the same time, we also wanted to celebrate September 16, 1963 -- Hari Malaysia (Malaysia Day) that was formed by Federation of Malaya, Sabah, Sarawak and Singapore.

Students from Michigan State University did an amazing job on decorating the hall for the event. With colorful balloons and traditional decorations makes everything like home.

Speech by the Director of Education Malaysia of Chicago (EMC).

Endless fun of performance and entertainment.

Famous Malaysian best delicacies are served for the pleasure of guests’ taste buds as a great kickoff to fall semester!

Because we are still having the Aidilfitri’s vibes; dressed up in glamorous attire, friends and families reunite to celebrate the event. Malaysian dress up in colored clothes as a symbol of harmony and unity.

At the end of the day, all of us have such a great time together as one family. Spartans Stand Together J
