Eid Adha Dinner 2013 aims to highlight the true values of Eid
including giving and sharing. The event successfully caters to the needs of the
multinational students in Michigan State University such as Saudi Arabia,
Libya, Turki, Somalia, Kazakhstan and Malaysia.
What is Eid Adha? Eid
al-Adha is known and called as Feast of the Sacrifice, the Major Festival, the
Greater Eid, Kurban Bayram (Turkish: Kurban Bayramı; Bosnian: kurban-bajram),
or Eid e Qurban. It is the second of two
religious holidays celebrated by Muslims worldwide each year. It honors the
willingness of Abraham (Ibrahim) to sacrifice his young first-born son Ishmael
(Ismail) as an act of submission to God's command and his son's acceptance to
being sacrificed, before God intervened to provide Abraham with a lamb to
sacrifice instead [1].
As one of the organizer,
we work together with the other 11 clubs to make sure the guests witness how
Eid Adha were celebrated in our very own culture. We also want them to feel how
magical and joyful for Muslims to celebrate Eid. There are a lot of
performances such as dancing, singing and video presentation.
The event took place
at McDonnel Hall, from 5.00 pm to 8.30 pm.
Guests that came
showed the support for us to continue to entertain you, your families and
friends of MSU! Surely, we will see you again next time!
